Washed Out – “Paracosm”

Washed Out - Paracosm

Washed Out - Paracosm

When I first discovered Washed Out a few years ago, I became an immediate fan. Ernest Greene knows how to make music that takes me to another place, a place that encourages me to chill and calmly absorb the sunshine and flowers around me. I’ve been anticipating his new release, Paracosm, and it certainly didn’t let me down. I highly recommend everyone giving it a listen, it may enlighten you.

Washed Out is touring this fall, but no Atlanta date. :(

Cults – “High Road”

Hell to the yes. I’ve been waiting for something from them since their last LP in 2011. They released the first single for their upcoming LP less than a month ago, but I decided not to feature it on the site. It’s not a bad song, I just wasn’t that excited about it… But I love this new single!

John Grant – “Pale Green Ghosts”

John Grant

Totally unexpected. I discovered John Grant by listening to a remix. I liked the remix so I decided to check out his stuff and I was in for an awesome surprise. John Grant is folk-rock artist with thoughtful and sometimes hilarious lyrics. According to his bio, John suffered from depression and then moved to Reykavik and recorded Pale Green Ghosts. The LP is a “show of strength and survival, of moving on with life, on what will continue to be an incredible journey.”

He’s mainly touring in Europe this fall, check out dates here.

Stream the whole album below. The whole LP is really worth a complete listen, but some of my favorite songs include GMF, Why Don’t You Love Me Anymore, You Don’t Have To, Ernest Borgnine, and I Hate This Town.

I should not be attracted to males
But you said that I should learn to love myself
Well, make up your mind, Dr. Frankenstein.

I hate this fucking town
You can not even leave your fucking house without
running into someone who no longer cares about you

And here is the badass remix that I first heard before of hearing of John Grant:

[LP release date: May 16, 2013]

Jaymes Young – “Dark Star”

Jaymes Young

It makes me feel fuzzy in my tummy when I find new music to fall in love with. So refreshing and sweet. Jaymes Young releases a full Mixtape (or LP?) that is available to download for free. From beginning to end, the mixtape is a very impressive contribution to the dark pop/R&B genre. Kinda reminds me of James Blake and Justin Timberlake mixed into a new handsome J dude.

Jaymes Young is touring with London Grammar this fall. It makes my soul sad that they aren’t coming to Atlanta. :( See tour dates here.

Stream the whole mixtape below. A few of my notable favorites is Two More Minutes, Moondust, and Northern Lights.

[Mixtape release date: August 20, 2013]

London Grammar – “Interlude”

London Grammar

Here is a haunting and very intimate new track from London Grammar, an English art rock trio formed by Hannah Reid, Dot Major, and Dan Rothman. If you haven’t yet, check out their EP that was released February 25, 2013, Metal & Dust. If You Wait LP is to be released on September 1, 2013 (UK only).

They’re touring with the amazing Jaymes Young this fall. I’m sad they’re not coming to Atlanta. :( Check out their 2013 Tour Dates here.

Here is another single really worth checking. Hannah Reid is just perfect.

Here’s the video to the amazing song, Strong:

Janelle Monáe featuring Miguel – “Prime Time”

Janelle Monae and Miguel - Primetime

Here is a sexy new single from Janelle Monáe featuring Miguel. Janelle has a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to see her live again in November (her last show of the tour is in her hometown, Atlanta). See tour dates below. The new LP, Electric Lady will be released on September 20th. Pre-order it now!

Cause baby it’s a prime time for our love
