When I make a list of my favorite releases for 2013 at the end of this year, My Friends Never Die will no doubt going to be on that list. Odesza released a full LP last year that is also in my top 10 releases of 2012. These guys are so brilliant and I’m so glad they’re in my life. Each song they spit has me hooked. I’m a sucker for sexy badass beats. Please make music forever, Odesza!

If I was trapped on an island and could only choose 5 bands to listen to, these guys would be one of them. I don’t know about you, but that’s saying a lot considering there are a shit load of brilliant musicians out there. Ditt Inre deserves no less attention in my opinion. I fell in love since their debut EP released last year. My connection to their music is so deep that I know the other me in all the parallel universes feel the same.
You can stream the whole album below, but you should also give them your money:

There’s a good reason Janelle is getting all the exposure she’s getting. She is one of the best things that has ever happened to music (not just R&B). I freakin’ love her. And then she goes and collaborates with my the another brilliant artist, Solange. What do you get? Pure perfection.
Stream the new single here and pre-order the upcoming LP.

Damn, Brooklyn – you can’t stop spitting out brilliant artists, can you? Bird call is comprised of singer and musician Chiara Angelicola and producer Bryan Senti. I’m so glad I found these guys (thanks Pigeons and Planes).
As I’m streaming the album for the first time, I’m completely hooked and somewhat mesmerized. My ears are addicted to this collaboration with Chiara and Bryan, there is no need to skip a track. I feel like they’re filling in an unknowingly empty gap in my “lustful for music” heart. So fulfilling, yet mysterious. The music reminds me of something very mature and dark, it’s hard for me to explain. Then I found that Pigeons and Planes describe what I’m thinking perfectly: “…tracks that feel like old world jazz infused with the beats and sonic textures of now—Angelicola’s compelling, rich vocals have a classic tone that’s endlessly enhanced by Senti’s orchestral production and attention to detail.”
Thank you, Bird Call. Thank you so goddamn much.

I can not put into words how much I love Postiljonen and their music. Here is a new track they just released from their Facebook page, When All The Wild Things Die. It is one of their first songs they made as a band and it isn’t on their brilliant LP that was released a few months ago. Very impressive. This band is heaven sent.
Here is some new music from a poppy electronic band from Toronto Some Minor Noise. They released 4 new songs worth checking out on their Soundcloud page.
Here are a couple of more songs released recently:
It makes me feel fuzzy in my tummy when I find new music to fall in love with. So refreshing and sweet. Jaymes Young releases a full Mixtape (or LP?) that is available to download for free. From beginning to end, the mixtape is a very impressive contribution to the dark pop/R&B genre. Kinda reminds me of James Blake and Justin Timberlake mixed into a new handsome J dude.
Jaymes Young is touring with London Grammar this fall. It makes my soul sad that they aren’t coming to Atlanta. :( See tour dates here.
Stream the whole mixtape below. A few of my notable favorites is Two More Minutes, Moondust, and Northern Lights.
[Mixtape release date: August 20, 2013]
What? Me? Obsessed? Psshhh – whatever. Okay, maybe. Just a little. Okay, I admit. Obsession is an understatement! I love this duo – they seem to not know how to make music that is less than perfect.
Formulär 1A is another song from their upcoming LP, Värd mer än guld. The special premiere is found in No Fear of Pop. I’m not allowed to post the Soundcloud audio directly on my site (yet) so you’ll have to go directly to their site:
Ditt Inre is hands down one of my favorite new bands of 2012-2013. Their music is a beautiful edition to this world. I’m so ecstatic about their upcoming debut LP, Värd mer än guld, set to be released on September 3, 2013 under the brilliant Cascine label. You would be excited too if you heard their sexy 2012 EP release En Värld I Brand.
And yea, these guys are also Swedish. I don’t know what all these damn Swedes are up to — probably world domination. They’ve already dominated MY world. Everyone in that country can’t stop spitting out beautiful music.
Check them out and prepare to let your heart melt. Here are two singles that will appear in their upcoming LP debut:
Here is a gorgeous song that only seems to be available as a single:
Rhye is a duo based off of LA, but they’re originally from Canada and Denmark. Mike Milosh and Robin Hannibal makes some of prettiest music you’ll ever hear. Sex is mainly the subject of their silky and seductive R & B music, but unlike modern music, they certainly don’t exploit the subject.
“Most pop, and what used to be rap, it’s derogatory, it exploits sex,” says Hannibal. “There’s nothing on this record that’s derogatory. There’s a worship in there, there’s an admiration, there’s love.”
You can stream a couple of songs from their debut album here:
