Teen Daze – “Glacier”

Teen Daze - Glacier

Teen Daze - Glacier

I can’t put into enough words how much I love this – so I’ll keep it short (as usual). Glacier (Lefse Records) is Teen Daze‘s new LP that will be released tomorrow October 1, 2013 — but you can stream the whole thing now.

So. Much. Perfect.

múm – Smilewound

Múm - Smilewound

Múm - Smilewound

It’s been awhile since their last release, but it was worth the wait. Smilewound is beautiful, charmingly dark, and experimental in a poppy fashion.

Stream the whole album on Pitchfork.

[LP released September 3, 2013 Worldwide – September 17, 2013 US]

Billow Observatory (Self Titled LP)

Billow Observatory

Billow Observatory

If case you haven’t noticed, I love floating.

[LP released December 4, 2012 – but I heard it when Ghostly International released it February 5th]

Postiljonen – “When All The Wild Things Die”

Postiljonen

I can not put into words how much I love Postiljonen and their music. Here is a new track they just released from their Facebook page, When All The Wild Things Die. It is one of their first songs they made as a band and it isn’t on their brilliant LP that was released a few months ago. Very impressive. This band is heaven sent.

Julianna Barwick – “Nepenthe”

Julianna Barwick - Nepenthe

It’s artists like Julianna Barwick that contributes to a lot of the beautiful feelings I have for getting to live on this earth — like a drug. This overwhelmingly beautiful LP will make you evaporate into the sky.

Julianna is from Louisiana and raised in Missouri. She currently lives in Brooklyn. She’s touring with Sigur Rós this fall. Don’t miss it.

I’m sad that I can’t embed the whole album in this post, you’ll have to stream it via Gorilla vs Bear. Better yet, just frackin’ buy it.

Here is one song I’m able to embed:

[LP release date: August 20, 2013]

John Grant – “Pale Green Ghosts”

John Grant

Totally unexpected. I discovered John Grant by listening to a remix. I liked the remix so I decided to check out his stuff and I was in for an awesome surprise. John Grant is folk-rock artist with thoughtful and sometimes hilarious lyrics. According to his bio, John suffered from depression and then moved to Reykavik and recorded Pale Green Ghosts. The LP is a “show of strength and survival, of moving on with life, on what will continue to be an incredible journey.”

He’s mainly touring in Europe this fall, check out dates here.

Stream the whole album below. The whole LP is really worth a complete listen, but some of my favorite songs include GMF, Why Don’t You Love Me Anymore, You Don’t Have To, Ernest Borgnine, and I Hate This Town.

I should not be attracted to males
But you said that I should learn to love myself
Well, make up your mind, Dr. Frankenstein.

I hate this fucking town
You can not even leave your fucking house without
running into someone who no longer cares about you

And here is the badass remix that I first heard before of hearing of John Grant:

[LP release date: May 16, 2013]

Jaymes Young – “Dark Star”

Jaymes Young

It makes me feel fuzzy in my tummy when I find new music to fall in love with. So refreshing and sweet. Jaymes Young releases a full Mixtape (or LP?) that is available to download for free. From beginning to end, the mixtape is a very impressive contribution to the dark pop/R&B genre. Kinda reminds me of James Blake and Justin Timberlake mixed into a new handsome J dude.

Jaymes Young is touring with London Grammar this fall. It makes my soul sad that they aren’t coming to Atlanta. :( See tour dates here.

Stream the whole mixtape below. A few of my notable favorites is Two More Minutes, Moondust, and Northern Lights.

[Mixtape release date: August 20, 2013]

Ditt Inre – “Vi kommer aldrig bli som er”

Ditt Inre

Ditt Inre is hands down one of my favorite new bands of 2012-2013. Their music is a beautiful edition to this world. I’m so ecstatic about their upcoming debut LP, Värd mer än guld, set to be released on September 3, 2013 under the brilliant Cascine label. You would be excited too if you heard their sexy 2012 EP release En Värld I Brand.

And yea, these guys are also Swedish. I don’t know what all these damn Swedes are up to — probably world domination. They’ve already dominated MY world. Everyone in that country can’t stop spitting out beautiful music.

Check them out and prepare to let your heart melt. Here are two singles that will appear in their upcoming LP debut:

Here is a gorgeous song that only seems to be available as a single:

Rhye – “Woman”

Rhye - Woman

Rhye

Rhye is a duo based off of LA, but they’re originally from Canada and Denmark. Mike Milosh and Robin Hannibal makes some of prettiest music you’ll ever hear. Sex is mainly the subject of their silky and seductive R & B music, but unlike modern music, they certainly don’t exploit the subject.

“Most pop, and what used to be rap, it’s derogatory, it exploits sex,” says Hannibal. “There’s nothing on this record that’s derogatory. There’s a worship in there, there’s an admiration, there’s love.”

You can stream a couple of songs from their debut album here:
