One of the best releases of 2013.

I can’t believe I missed this. I loved their 2011 LP, Safari Disco Club. I even got my 10 year old sister (8 at the time) addicted to it — she’d request to hear them all the time and even though it was mostly in French, she would sing along to it the best she could. I just discovered this song last night and I think I’ve already played it at least 20 times.
I have a major crush on Phantogram. No one can make darkness sound so beautiful. They just released their 4 song EP today. They’re releasing a full album soon, but not sure when it’ll be released. Stream one of the songs from the new EP below and stream another song here.
Give me a reason to stay alive

When I make a list of my favorite releases for 2013 at the end of this year, My Friends Never Die will no doubt going to be on that list. Odesza released a full LP last year that is also in my top 10 releases of 2012. These guys are so brilliant and I’m so glad they’re in my life. Each song they spit has me hooked. I’m a sucker for sexy badass beats. Please make music forever, Odesza!
You can stream the EP below or download it free on their website.

Holy shit. This is my first time of hearing Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, hailing from Toronto, Canada (originally formed in Montreal). After listening to this new track, One, I went and checked out their release from 2011 — and yup, I fell in love. Needless to say, I have another new release to be überly excited about this fall. Here is the band’s description of their music: “Asian Diasporic psychedelic noh-wave opera group fusing noise, metal, pop and folk music into a multidisciplinary hyper-orientalist cesspool of ‘eastern’ culture in giant monochrome paper sets.” Hell YES.
Their upcoming album Uzu is set to be released October 29, 2013. I. Can. Not. Wait.
The new song is currently available for download:
5. Hall of Mirrors
6. Seasickness Pt. 1
7. Seasickness Pt. 2
8. Bring Me The Hand Of Bloody Benzaiten
10. Saturn’s Return

Since it’s not available, links below are for the 2011 YT//ST release, not the new upcoming release:

Totally unexpected. I discovered John Grant by listening to a remix. I liked the remix so I decided to check out his stuff and I was in for an awesome surprise. John Grant is folk-rock artist with thoughtful and sometimes hilarious lyrics. According to his bio, John suffered from depression and then moved to Reykavik and recorded Pale Green Ghosts. The LP is a “show of strength and survival, of moving on with life, on what will continue to be an incredible journey.”
He’s mainly touring in Europe this fall, check out dates here.
Stream the whole album below. The whole LP is really worth a complete listen, but some of my favorite songs include GMF, Why Don’t You Love Me Anymore, You Don’t Have To, Ernest Borgnine, and I Hate This Town.
I should not be attracted to males
But you said that I should learn to love myself
Well, make up your mind, Dr. Frankenstein.
I hate this fucking town
You can not even leave your fucking house without
running into someone who no longer cares about you
And here is the badass remix that I first heard before of hearing of John Grant:

Here’s a funky new song for you! If you like Janelle Monáe and Amy Winehouse, you’ll dig this. Lolo is a new soul-funk artist and I’m really looking forward to hearing more from her in the near future.

Here’s another song she released about a month ago. Love the piano touches.
Yea, I heard it from a friend

So when you gonna to tell me you fucked me over
